Barcelona Day 6

Last night we hit the Italian place for one more round of pizza.  It is just too good!
Today we walked around Las Ramblas for the last time and then walked down to the beach.  I'm going to miss the bue, blue water.  Tomorrow morning we fly to London and then after a loooonnng layover, make our way back to Dallas.  It's been a great trip but I'm excited to get back home.  I miss my dogs!  (and my family and friends)

Barcelona, Day 5

Today was a beach day.  We walked down to the ocean and explored along the beaches.  The water in the Mediterranean is so clear.  All along the boardwalk, they have these fabulous sculptures by famous artists.  There are lots of scary sights ince topless sunning is quite popular regardless of body type.

Lichtenstein, not Miro as I said earlier

Barcelona Day 4

Last night we took a break from tapas and paella and discovered an awesome Italian restaurant.  I had probably the best pizza I've ever had outside of Italy.  Today we walked to the Picasso museum.  It was not the most exciting collection as most of his work is in Paris and the US.  Luckily I've seen a lot of it already so it wasn't that big an issue.  I've become a little obsessed with the graffiti around town.  It's like its own branch of art.  And knowing my love of spray paint, you can see why I might be drawn to it.  Here's a little sampling.

Barcelona, Day 3

Today we walked down to the sea and took the Cable Car Gondola thingy from the port to a big garden area on the west side of the city.  We walked around the Olympic area from when Barcelona hosted in 1992.  Fun day with a lot of walking and a lot of sun.  It's hot here but still not as bad as Dallas.

Friday Night in Barcelona

It's been interesting adjusting to the fact that people don't even think out eating dinner until 9pm at the earliest.  And apparently they party until 5am, but we have yet to make it up even near that late to prove that fact.  Last night we walked to Las Ramblas for some Paella.

Barcelona, Day 2

We had quite the adventurous day today as I dragged Whitney and Kate all over town checking out various Gaudi structures.  Casa Batllo is right around the corner from out hotel.
Then we headed to Casa Mila, La Pedrera.  I love his trippy achitectural style.

Next we walked around Sagrada Familia, Gaudi last work.  He died in 1926 and this church is not projected to be finished until 2026.  Crazy stuff!

After that we made the semi-long trek to Park Guell for a little more Gaudi action.

The views of Barcelona from the top were beautiful.  Also, I have no idea why I'm climbing the wall of the caves but other tourists seemed to be doing it so I joined in.  Now time for a siesta after all that walking.
